Application Guidelines – Financial Aid for International Conference Presentation and International Research Exchange Overseas Travel
Academic Year 2026
1. Purpose
The Educational Reform Promotion Office aims to support undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the School of Human Sciences and Graduate School of Human Sciences in participating in international conference presentations and international research exchanges involving overseas travel, thereby further promoting international educational and research activities within the School and Graduate School.
2. Eligibility and Support Amount
2.1 Eligible Activities
The following activities are eligible for support:
① International Conference Presentation:Research presentations (oral or poster presentations) at international conferences held overseas
② International Research Exchange:Research exchanges at overseas universities, research institutes, etc. (visits to overseas research institutions, summer schools, language training programs, etc.)
2.2 Eligible Applicants
① International Conference Presentation:Graduate students enrolled in the Graduate School of Human Sciences at the time of support
② International Research Exchange:Undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Human Sciences and graduate students enrolled in the Graduate School of Human Sciences at the time of support
Common Conditions:
- Students who are on leave of absence or planning to take a leave of absence at the time of dispatch are excluded.
- Students who have been appointed as JSPS Research Fellows (DC1/DC2), participants in Leading Graduate School programs, or participants in the Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities for Next Generation Researchers may also apply, provided that the research topic is not identical to that of the relevant program.
- Students receiving salaries or scholarships from the government or private scholarship organizations, such as government-funded international students, may have restrictions on the amount of support due to the possibility of duplicate funding.
3. Expenses

The support amount is fixed according to the destination region as follows:
- Asian regions: 50,000 yen Examples: China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, India, etc.
- Regions outside Asia: 200,000 yen
This support fund is intended to partially cover transportation costs (airfare, etc.), accommodation expenses, daily allowances, and miscellaneous travel expenses (passport issuance fees, visa fees, immigration taxes, airport facility usage fees, etc.) based on Osaka University's Travel Expense Regulations.
Conference participation fees and local transportation costs are generally the applicant's responsibility (the Graduate School will make individual decisions as necessary).
4. Duration
International Conference Presentation:From June 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027
International Research Exchange:From June 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 (with start dates by February 28, 2027)
5. Submission of Documents
Common Documents (required for all applicants):
- a. Application Form for International Conference Presentation and International Research Exchange Support (prescribed format)
- b. Results of Self-Assessment Check on Security Export Control (Attached Form No. 2-1)
- c. Itinerary (showing travel dates and on-site activity schedule; any format acceptable)
- d. Materials providing an overview of the international conference (conference announcement, program, website printout, etc.)
- e. If conference presentation has already been approved, documentation confirming acceptance such as program or acceptance notification
- d. For summer schools or language training programs, materials providing an overview of the program (announcement, website printout, etc.)

Submission Deadline: Friday, April 24, 2026, 15:00

7. Notification of Screening Results
The Educational Reform Promotion Committee will determine acceptance or rejection based on document screening of submitted materials.
Selection results will be sent to the contact email address provided in the application form (scheduled for late May 2026).
8. Notes on Activities After Selection
8.1 Before Travel
1. Comply with Osaka University's regulations on security export control.
2. Submit necessary documents regarding overseas travel to the Academic Affairs Office.
3. Subscribe to appropriate insurance when traveling overseas.
8.2 After Travel
1. Submit a report by the designated deadline after returning to Japan.
8.3 Relationship with Other Support
2. If you have personal funds or support from other organizations (Leading Graduate School Program, Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities for Next Generation Researchers, overseas dispatch support from external foundations, etc.), clearly specify the breakdown (transportation costs, accommodation costs, etc.) in the application form.
